Samuel Walker High School Reunion 2026:
A Look Back
Thank you to everyone who attended the Samuel Walker Houston High School Reunion, July 31–August 1, 2026! We had a fantastic time reconnecting with old friends, celebrating alumni achievements, sharing memories, and honoring the lasting legacy of the Samuel Walker Houston High School community.
From familiar faces to stories shared across generations, the weekend was a wonderful reminder of the friendships, history, and community that continue to bring us together. We are grateful to everyone who traveled near and far to attend, as well as the volunteers and supporters who helped make the reunion possible.
We hope you enjoy looking back at some of the special moments from this year’s reunion. Thank you for being part of the celebration—and for helping keep the Samuel Walker Houston legacy strong for generations to come!

A History of the Pioneering Efforts of African Americans, Huntsville, Walker County, Texas
This publication is dedicated to the memory of Samuel Walker Houston, founder and first principal of the Sam Houston Industrial and Training School, which later became Sam Houston High School, and all former teachers and students who found paths to literacy and understanding. It contains a treasury of historical information on the origin, growth, and development of education in Walker County.
We currently have a limited quantity of this magnificent publication by Dr. Naomi Lede, the Chief editor of the project who recently passed at the age of 91. This book should be a must have, for any African American whose roots lie in the soil of Huntsville, Walker County Texas."
