The Magnum Howell Community Center Visit

The Samuel Walker Houston Museum & Cultural Center is more than just a museum - it’s a celebration of African American culture and heritage, and a tribute to the legacy of Samuel Walker Houston. A guided tour by the Magnum Howell Center of Houston TX, rolled into the Center on Thursday September 20, 2023 and the 33 visitors discovered some of the stories of African Americans who have made significant contributions to the history of Texas.

The visitors were a fun and lively group who asked many questions as they listened to the Director of the Center, Lovie Hall Cunningham who spoke about the life of Samuel Walker Houston and the Museum and the Cultural Center.

Faces at the Fish Fry

At the Samuel W. Houston Museum & Cultural Center, we are passionate about delivering engaging events, like our Fish Fry Fundraiser, which was held, last Friday, September 1, 2023.  It was an exciting and fun time where members of the surrounding communities came together to meet, greet, eat good fried fish while supporting the Center.  We are very thankful for the turnout, making it an overwhelming success.  It was a great time for all in attendance.  Check out some of the faces in attendance.

The Class of 1968 celebrated their 55th Class Reunion on May 20, 2023 at the Clark Thomason Center.  One of the highlights of this event was the entrance of the class members in attendance.  These classmates showed their stuff as they modeled their way on the Red Carpet, putting the Oscar's to shame. Take a look.
