Juneteenth is a glorious time where freedom takes the center stage for Black Americans whose ancestors were once enslaved, but this day is also celebrated by many other freedom loving people. Juneteenth is a reminder, a day of celebration and also a national holiday commemorating June 19, 1865. This was the day when the enslaved people in Texas were told slavery was over. This was 2 years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed into law. Despite this seemingly cruel delay of justice, the bells of freedom rang louder than ever in the ears of those enslaved when the glorious words were uttered, "Y'all free now."
